MONTAGUE ISLAND
Montague Island is a haven for marine life. Its waters are abundant
with fish and marine mammals, while the island hosts colonies of
bird life.
Penguins inhabit the island along with colonies of Australian
and New Zealand Fur Seals.
The Lighthouse and buildings were constructed
from rock from the island and serve as a major navigation aid.
The
island takes regular weather reports and sends data to the Bureau
of Meteorology.
Managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service
the island is a major attraction for both thrill seekers and nature
enthusiasts.
